Insight on the Word
Wisdom in Scripture is recognized as a gift from God and gives one the ability to understand the important things in life. It has the idea of being intelligent, sensible and reasonable. It has been said that knowledge gives you information but wisdom tells you what to do with the information you have received.
Take note of these five examples in Scripture of people receiving wisdom from God. Joseph received wisdom and because of his pre-planning in a time of plenty, he was able to save an entire nation when famine came. (Genesis 41:38-39) Moses a man who had trouble with his speech, received God’s wisdom and was able to speak before Kings and Queens. (Exodus 4:12) And who can forget Solomon, a man who asked God for wisdom and received it as well as wealth and riches, which to this day has not been equaled. (1 Kings 3:12) Then there was Daniel, who God gave wisdom and knowledge even to the point of knowing the dreams of others, as well as the interpretations. (Daniel 2:23) And in the New Testament there was Stephen who when opposed by the religious crowd of his day and displayed wisdom that could not be resisted. (Acts 6:10) Truly wisdom causes us to be over comers in this life.
Have no fear in facing this day, for whatever events or situations may arise, God’s wisdom will see you through. Remember God “giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding. He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous.”
Speak the Word — God has laid up wisdom for me, I have it now! (Proverbs 2:7)
