Psalm 84:11 For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.
Insight on the Word
When you think about God, think about Him as being like the sun which illuminates, invigorates, warms, and sustains life. He is also like a shield in the hands of a mighty man which protects and defends all those who trust in Him.
He gives grace (undeserved favor) to live this life below and glory (honor from God) which will enable us to enjoy the blessings of heaven above. It is though God plants grace in our heart as a seed, and that grace… brings forth a harvest of God’s glory. There is no reflection of God’s glory where grace in not extended. Thank God He has given freely.
Is it any wonder that God who sustains our life as the sun; protects us as a shield; gives us grace and glory; also promises that He will withhold from us “no good thing.” Think about this wonderful promise; both our wants and our needs, if they are good, God promises not to withhold them from our lives.
But can such a wonderful promise really be a reality? The answer depends upon us. For God requires that we walk uprightly. In other words we are to do what is right. What is right toward God, what is right toward ourselves and what is right toward our fellow man. Purpose in your heart today to walk right. If you stumble, don’t fear, simply ask God’s forgiveness and continue in your upright walk.
Remember as we walk this upright walk with God, we have God’s promise: “no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.”
Speak the Word — Because I walk uprightly, God withholds no good thing from me! (Psalms 84:11)
