Proverbs 20:7 The just man walketh in his integrity: his children are blessed after him.
Insight on the Word
Integrity has to do with living in moral innocence and walking in uprightness. And for the believer who lives this way, not only is he blessed but his whole family is blessed. Integrity is a keeping force that holds a family together. The Psalmist said: “integrity and uprightness preserve me.” (Psalm 25:21)
Integrity brings the blessing of the Lord upon the family. This is a blessing that no man can remove. “…he hath blessed; and I cannot reverse it.” (Numbers 23:20) “If God be for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31)
When we as believers walk in integrity, we pass on a Godly heritage to our children. This is something that God honors. “And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.” (Genesis 17:7)
This lifestyle of integrity assures that the blessing of our life continues on in our family. It creates a strong and blessed family. “His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed. Wealth and riches shall be in his house: and his righteousness endureth for ever.” (Psalm 112:2-3)
We are told by the writer of Proverbs that: “A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children’s children:” (Proverbs 13:22) What greater inheritance could we leave than that of integrity. Some things in life are uncertain, but one thing is for sure, God promises us in His Word that as the just man walks in his integrity then “his children are blessed.” Purpose in your heart that this day will be a day of integrity and blessing.
