Psalm 112:3 Wealth and riches shall be in his house: and his righteousness endureth for ever.
Insight on the Word
Let it be a settled fact: God sanctions wealth and riches for the righteous man! It is foolish to condemn riches and class rich men as wicked just because of their prosperity. Wealth is tremendous blessing if it is used as God intended. It was God’s original plan that all men be prosperous and use all things in creation for the benefit of mankind and God’s glory. It is still God’s purpose, and when the Messiah reigns Scripture teaches us that every man will sit “under his vine and under his fig tree; and none shall make them afraid:” (Micah 4:4), which indicates there will be universal peace and prosperity. (Isaiah 2:2-4, 65:20-25)
The fact is a man may be rich and have righteousness all at the same time. Poverty is certainly no mark of holiness or Christianity. John the beloved apostle and disciple of the Lord tells us: “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” (3 John 1:2) As we live righteously before the Lord we can expect to prosper. We can be confident that the words of Paul will be fulfilled in our life: “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19)
All this being said…. The desire for righteousness should always precede riches in our life. Wealth and Riches are not to be our number one goal in life. For Jesus said: “…seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” (Matthew 6:33) But, if we are faithful to God and always seek righteousness first… we have God’s promise: “wealth and riches shall be in his house.”
Speak the Word — My house is filled with wealth and righteousness! (Psalm 112:3)
